Mr. Varisco is the advisor for the Gifted Students. He teaches Think Tank (ninth and tenth grade) and S.P.A.R.K.S. (eleventh and twelfth grade). Additionally, he coordinates the Governor’s School for the Arts and screens students for the Governor’s Summer Residential programs. Mr. Varisco is also available to plan course schedules and to help with college and scholarship searches as well as SAT and ACT prep. Feel free to stop by portable 11 with any questions.

S.P.A.R.K.S.  (Students’ Perspectives, Awareness, Reaction and Knowledge Seminar) is a ½ credit elective for juniors and seniors offered during their lunch/study block.

Think Tank for Super Thinkers is a ½ credit elective for freshmen and sophomores offered during their lunch/study block.

Independent Studies is a ½ credit elective for freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors offered second semester offered during their lunch/study block.

 Gifted Identification:  If you were identified in Virginia Beach Schools in elementary school or middle school then you are still an identified gifted student. 

Referral Process:  Referral forms and other information can be obtained in room 200 from the Gifted Resource Specialist.
